Public beta of pollXT 1.24 available

The first public beta of pollxt 1.24 is available for download.

PollXT 1.24 is a pure technology release, i.e. there's not a lot of new functionality, but the frontend was completely re-coded and is now fully ajax-based for improved user experience. The backend contains a new (also ajax based) interface to create and maintain questions and options.

The basic ideas of pollXT 1.24 do not differ very much from those implemented in 1.30, however with 1.24 a smooth transition will be supported.

Evolution instead of Revolution

As you probably noticed, development of 1.30 beta did not continue for a long time. The reason for that is simple: My time is limited and improving and maintaining 1.2x, enable it for Joomla 1.5, supporting the component in the forum etc... is very time consuming, hence I didn't have much time for 1.30 in the past. Additionally all the functional improvements and some of the bug fixes of 1.2x have to be applied to 1.30, too. This lead me to the conclusion that the revolution (1.30) will be replaced by a evolution of 1.2x. Step by step I'll incorporate the enhanced functionalities of 1.30 into 1.2x. 1.30 beta will still be available for download, however the forum is closed and there will be no updates to 1.30 beta. For basically the same reasons I'll not provide a native Joomla 1.5 version of pollXT in the near future. Hope you understand that.

pollXT 1.23.05 available

JoomlaXT! and Joomla 1.5

Some people already wondered what my plans regarding Joomla! 1.5 are... These plans are not very specific, but at least there are some plans and recently I started to gather first experience with 1.5...

New languages available

A lot of users already submitted translations for pollXT, hence I decided to create a new folder in the download section for all the languages.

There are already a lot of languages available, however: If you translated pollXT to another language (it's really not a lot to translate), please let me know, and I'll upload it to the language files folder.

Earn money with your Joomla Site!

Having a website is fun, however it's a lot of work, too and in the end at least you have some costs for webspace, the domain etc... so why not get at least some money back?

First step to normality

The first step in re-building is donw. All downloads should be available, the forum is online and automatic upgrade is in place again... My local development and test environment was a mess, too... . I also fixed that, so now the real work can begin: Develop and further improve pollXT 1.30.

From my point of view the current versions of staticXT and pollXT 1.22 are pretty stable and secure, however with all the mess in my local environment I might have mixed up some files, hence: if you experience problems or detect some security problems, please contact me or post in the forum immediately.

The future of the XT components

As this site was down quite some time, some of you might probably wonder, what the future will bring regarding XT components... To make it short: Support & Development will continue.
